Which would you choose: "A person with a Good personality but Not Good looks" or "A person with a Not Good personality but Good looks"? It is often brought up when both men and women discuss the opposite sex.

According to Russian translator Mari Yonehara's book "Which is choice Unfaithful beauty or Chaste ugly woman?", translators are always torn between which type to choose.
"Chaste ugly woman" in translation is "That is faithful to the original text but difficult to read as Japanese."
On the other hand, "Unfaithful beauty woman" is "That deviates from the original text but is easy to read as Japanese."
In other words, there is a difference between a "Literal translation taste" or "Free translation taste."

It is common for everyone to find literal translations difficult to read, arrange for easier to read.
If this goes too far, it will result in a "Mistranslation."
Translators are always asked about them "Free translation sense", there are many cases where an "Unfaithful beauty woman" is acceptable as long as it is not mistranslated.

I once translated the script of a Chinese drama into Japanese.
It was my first time translating a full-fledged Literary Work, and I couldn't help but get too excited.
I made a complicated translation to make it more dramatic, in other words, I mistranslated it. I ended up creating an "Unfaithful UGLY WOMAN" deviated from the original text.

A good novel is "Written in a simple style that anyone can understand."
Difficult things that list abstract concepts can be interpreted in any number of ways, at first glance, it seems poetic and therefore tends to be perceived as highly literary, but this is a big mistake.
Sentences that can't "Convey the content properly" which is the original purpose, this is the author's self-centered "BAD WRITTING."
Translation can also be considered a writer's activity in a broad sense.
The work of translating the drama script was respect the original text and do not modify the words unnecessarily, it also gave me an opportunity to always try to write in a style that everyone could understand.
