Historical celebrities differ from country to country.

For example, "Oda Nobunaga" "Tokugawa Iyasu" "Sakamoto Ryoma" etc. If you are Japanese, even elementary school students know the names and biographies of these great figures.

Great people in Japanese history

The same goes for China, there are many great figures who are familiar to Chinese people, even if Japanese people don't. These great figures often appear in Chinese manuscripts.

"Taizong・Li Shimin" "Taigongwang・Lu Shang" etc. Any Chinese person can understand this.

Great people in chese history

However, even if you translate it directly into Japanese, it will not be understood by Japanese readers.

Therefore, we will add information such as who and when. Add an outline as appropriate, such as "The second emperor of the Tang Dynasty" as Taizong・Li Shimin, "The meritorious vassals of the founding of the Zhou Dynasty" as Taigongwang・Lu Shang.

This applies not only to people's names but also to historical events.

If you are Japanese, "Battle of Sekigahara" "Honno-ji temple Incident" is easy to understand, and important events in Chinese history will also be added so that Japanese readers can understand what kind of event took place in what era.

Historical event

Surprisingly, it is difficult to name of "The Song Dynasty".

The Song Dynasty divided for ruled all of China during the "Northern Song Dynasty" (960-1127), and only the southern part the "Southern Song Dynasty" (1127-1279).

Many people from this era were mentioned in the books I previously translated.

Point by point, I added to "Poets of the Northern Song Dynasty as 〇〇" "Officials of the Southern Song Dynasty as △△", but even when I look at materials in Chinese, there are many people who are simply described as "Song Dynasty Persons", so I had a hard time finding out whether it was from the Northern or Southern Song Dynasty.
